Cameroon Basketball Team qualifies for finals of Francophonie Games
Cameroon’s female basketball team qualified for the finals of the ongoing Francophonie Games after beating Lebanon with a score of 69-58. The game was held in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Cameroon got off to a strong start, leading by as many as 12 points in the first half. Lebanon rallied in the second half, but Cameroon was able to hold on for the victory.
Monica Ndoumbe led Cameroon with 23 points, while Marie-Paule Mbida added 15 points. For Lebanon, Nadine El-Khoury had 18 points.
With the win, Cameroon advances to the finals of Les Jeux de la Francophonie, where they will face the winner of the other semifinal match between France and Tunisia. The finals will be held on August 5.
This is the first time that Cameroon’s female basketball team has qualified for the finals of Les Jeux de la Francophonie. The team is hoping to win the gold medal and bring home the first major international title for Cameroonian women’s basketball.
The victory over Lebanon was a hard-fought one, and Cameroon will need to be at their best if they want to win the gold medal. France and Tunisia are both strong teams, and the finals are sure to be a close game.
But Cameroon has shown that they are capable of beating anyone on their day. If they can play their best basketball, they have a good chance of winning the gold medal.
