Authorities of the Cameroon railway corporation, CAMRAIL have confirmed that one of its trains which transports timber derailed between the Eseka and Hikoa Malep railway stations.
The incident is said to have occurred Monday at about 3:20 pm.
Fortunately enough, Camrail notes, the incident unlike the last deadly derailment, only caused material damage on the train and the destruction of a 400-metre railway section.

Camrail management has however, noted that the accident has caused no disruption in activities as transportation still continues.
“Camrail management notes that this incident has had no negative impacts on the circulation of passenger trains. In the meantime, the technical service of camrail is doing its possible best to put everything in order”, the statement from the company said.

This latest train derailment has been the 2nd in over 5 years in Eseka.
In 2015, a passenger train derailed in Eseka, leaving close to 100 persons dead and more than 150 seriously injured.
