The national telecommunications and Internet service provider in Cameroon, CAMTEL has announced the launching of its new service called ‘blue money’.

On the company’s official website, CAMTEL said: “blue is a telco start-up, powered by CAMTEL. Our vision is to launch the most digital, smart and simple brand in the telco industry, for your needs at home, at office and in mobility.”

The app is being launched at the time when Cameroonians have initiated a virtual boycott of telecom services over poor connectivity.

For Two weeks now, irate phone users have embarked on an airplane mode campaign — as a way of calling for better and quality service vis-a-vis telecom providers (Camtel, Mtn and Orange) and their millions of customers

“We are tired of the poor services, we are tired of extortion,” a user told MMI.

It is yet to be known what changes will accompany the the blue money app.
