Can Dr. Bongajum Dora Lemnyuy, Become First Female PCC Moderator?

The name of Rev. Dr. Bongajum Dora Lemnyuy is said to have appeared on the list of eligible candidates to ascend the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon’s (PCC) highest office; MMI has been reliably informed.

According to our source, who opted for anonymity considering the PCC has not officially announced the contestant, most people who become PCC moderators are always the top elite of the church.

“Elections in the PCC have often been a coronation process of a prescribed elite of the establishment,” our source added.

But could the projection of a woman, a well-drilled spiritually minded mother and wife, be the surprise direction of change and transformation at the PCC?

Towards a Fairer Competition?

MMI has been made to understand that PPC is finally moving in the direction of levelling a fair playground for women to lead within the increasing crossroads of the church.

“The establishment might have made clear its intentions to crown their inner loyalists like Miki Hans, Njongai Polycarp, Ntumgfor Godwin, and Mokoko Simon for moderator or Ayuk Solomon and Epiemebong Luisa as synod clerk, but this bright scholar and expert administrator might be proof of the fact that women will not only make up numbers in this PCC,” our source added.

MMI tried several times to reach out to Rev. Dr. Bongajum Dora for comments, but our efforts yielded no fruit.

As we continue to followup on the story, elections for the new leadership of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon are due at the end of 2024.

The PCC Moderator, Rt Rev. Samuel Fonki Forba, has served his limited two mandates, and now it is time to have another leadership at the helm of the church.
If it happens Rev. Dr. Bongajum Dora steps into the shoes of the outgoing Moderator, she will be the first PCC woman to ever do so.

Rev. Dr. Bongajum Dora Lemnyuy holds a Doctorate in Educational Administration and serves as the Head of the Department of Development and Social Studies. She is also the co-author of the book Three Pillars of a Better Community: A Tool for Nation Building.
