Caritas Coordinator, Father Paul Njokikang arrested

The Coordinator for Catholic Agency for International Aid and Development, Caritas, Father Paul Njokikang is said to have been arrested.

Media reports say he was picked up today morning after mass in the Mbingfibieh neighbourhood in Bamenda and is being held at the Bafut Airport military camp.

The voice reporta that Authorities of the Catholic Arch Diocese of Bamenda have denounced the arrest calling it arbitrary.

While many denounce Father Paul’s arrest and detention, administrative authorities are yet to say a word regarding the priest who was on outstation duty at the time of his arrest.

Father Paul The Voice reports has often been described by the church as “a descendant of Mother Theresia” given his good works towards people rendered poor and vulnerable by the armed conflict in the Anglophone regions.

The priest had in April addressed the United Nations Security Council on the crisis.
