The management of the Presbyterian Church’s CBS Radio in Buea organized a mid-year evaluation meeting and workshop for its Voluntary External Broadcasters (VEBs).

The event took place on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at the CBS Radio Buea conference room.

The meeting focused on evaluating the programs anchored by the VEBs.

Tambe Bessem Grace Enow, the radio’s producer, noted that this was the first such meeting since the inception of CBS Radio Buea.

Manager Boris Karloff Batata explained the rationale behind the initiative: “It’s all about evaluating the work that they have been putting in from January to June, as it is the first part of the year. We want quality and believe in continuous monitoring and evaluation rather than waiting until the end of the year for critiques. Previously, CBS only held yearly meetings with VEBs, but now we have instituted midterm reviews to check their work.”

Ayah W. Abine, an external broadcaster at CBS Radio, said, “The workshop has been very informative and instructive. I opted to understand what it means to have an interactive, professional broadcast, and it exceeded my expectations.”

Ketu Faith, a panelist on the program “Youths Let’s Talk” on CBS Radio, added, “I learned a lot and can attest that the meeting was amazing, with extensive discussions on how to improve our program.”

After gaining professional knowledge on improving their broadcast skills, journalists at CBS Radio Buea shared their experiences.

The sports analyst and reporter for “Sport Fiesta” at the radio station remarked, “The workshop was very important because, since I’ve been here since 2012, this is the first time I’m taking part in an evaluation meeting organized for external voluntary broadcasters.”

Participants were trained on content mastery, pronunciation, and studio ethics.

The manager reiterated that these participants would receive awards of participation during the next meeting.
