“That landslide killed 14 people. Over 10 others have been taking to the various hospitals”. These are the words of Governor Naseri Paul Bea of the Center region.
He made the ramarks after assessing the site of today’s landslide in Damas, Yaounde. The victims, he said, “… were attending a meeting… when suddenly there was a landslide”.
With rescue efforts still ongoing, he urged locals to give way for police officers and rescue workers to do their job: “We want to tell the population that it is a risky zone to stay and we are calling on them to liberate the area for now for the police and gendarmes to do their work,” he stated.
