About five tons of fish were seized from a CONGELCAM store and destroyed by the Lekie divisional delegate of livestock.
The incident occurred in Obala, near Yaoundé some weeks ago.
In an outing recently, the Observatory for Societal Development welcomed the decision.
Michel Essame said “There are people who want to undermine what has been done to protect our poeple. We must take a stand.”
Talking to the media, he strongly defended the gesture of seizing and destroying the fish which was deemed harmful for human consumption.
He further requested that the divisional delegate of Livestock, Marthe Mebounou should be protected.
The group has taken to their social platform to announce plans of carrying out investigations on the quality of fish distributed by CONGELCAM.
