Chadians target French structures in anti military protest

Few gunshots were heard in Ndjamena Chad Wednesday April 28th 2021, a day after Chadians launched a national wide protest against military rule in the country following the death of President Idriss Deby Itno.

“I am talking to you now in Kouseri; in the Far North region of Cameroon. I had to flee from Ndjamena Chad this morning with my family for our safety” a Cameroonian who has been living in Chad for more than three years told Mimi Mefo Info.

“Chadians are targeting establishments of French people like Total filling stations. They are equally attack French men living in the country. In retaliation, police and military have been brutalising the protesters” he claims.

Though the tension is not intense today as of Tuesday April 27th, our source confirms that Chadians are planning for a relaunch of the strike Thursday April 29th.

They have waved aside calls by General Mahamat Idriss Deby for calm and respect of the army.

In a televised address yesterday, the president of the military transitional government, banned public manifestations.

Though officials figure places the number of civilians killed since the beginning of the strike to give, opposition say at least nine people were killed and over a dozen injured.
