Chaos imminent in Douala as bike riders block roads in protest

There is tension in parts of Cameroon’s economic capital Douala. Commercial bike riders have restricted the flow of traffic by blocking the Bonakouamouang-Salle des fêtes d’Akwa road.

This is part of an ongoing protest against what they say is exploitation by municipal authorities. Today’s protest shows that the protesters are unrelenting in their demands.

As is becoming the norm, it is feared security forces will try to use force and water canons to disperse the protesting bikers. Authorities too have remained mute over their plea and persistent complains about municipal traffic agents.
