A Chinese man is said to have been robbed of his money at Marché Congo in Douala, commercial capital of Cameroon.
He was attacked by some hoodlums popularly known as ‘Nanga Mboko.’
His bag containing huge sums of money taken away, a source told MMI.
“He tried fighting back but the boys were many. No one came to his rescue. Security forces arrived the scene only when the boys had left,” said Ndonfack, a witness.
The Chinese national is said to have expressed disappointment at the population for not coming to his aid when he was attacked.
Insecurity has been on steady rise in Douala amid an upsurge in notorious criminal gangs like ‘les Microbes’. The criminals who arm themselves with knives, cutlasses, razor blades and other sharp objects have been attacking locals even in broad daylight.
