A man whose name MMI got as Fon Anyer Ceracus has been killed by gunmen believed to be Ambazonia separatist fighters in Chomba, a village in Bamenda II, Mezam Division of the North West Region.
Reports say he was shot dead on Tuesday around Naka’ah Bali, while driving back from Bamenda city centre, where he had gone to buy drinks.
MMI learned Fon Anyer was killed in connection with the drinking spot he operated at Chomba village square.
“This man was murdered at Bali road,” a source told MMI, adding that no one has claimed responsibility in an area that has witnessed frequent summary executions by separatist fighters.
Ceracus is the fourth person to be killed around the area in less two weeks, MMI has gathered.
Sources say a Quarter Head of Mile 90 was recently targeted and killed in a similar manner.
This was just after a restaurant owner was pulled out of her restaurant by separatist fighters and was found dead at a nearby school field.
Locals said the separatists had accused her of selling food to soldiers who often patrol the area.
“Everyone in this area is living in fear as they don’t know who is next,” a local told MMI.
Last month, MMI also reported how soldiers stormed a funeral ceremony in the area, pulled out some boys from there and shot them dead.
This has been the mode of operation for soldiers each time they suspect anyone of being a separatist fighter.
It is therefore the believe of locals that separatists are also copying the pattern as they have not spared anyone who has been accused of having anything to do with the military.
Late Fon Anyer Ceracus their latest victim, left behind a wife and many children.
