Chomba Traditional Council Warns Spoilers At Enthronement Of New Fon

The traditional council of Chomba, a village about 7Km from the town of Bamenda has sounded a note of warning to those it says are always around with wrong pieces of advice whenever a new fon is enthroned.

Ta Tita Takwi was speaking Saturday, December 18, 2021, during the official presentation of Asanji II, the new fon of Chomba in a colorful event that took place at the esplanade of the Chomba Palace.

“We don’t want those people who when we enthroned our fon, go giving him negative pieces of advice. Anyone who dares will face the gods of the land,” he warned.

Fon Asanji II is 19 years of age and a year one student of the National Higher Polytechnic Institute (NAHPI) University of Bamenda(UBa).

The event that saw dance groups from in and out of Chomba went on without any incidents despite the current context characterized by the socio-political crisis rocking the two restive Anglophone regions of Cameroon.

“We are at ease because there were no uniform officers around to create tension. Even the separatist fighters love their culture reason why there were no troubles. One thing the authorities should understand is that most of the time, it is their presence and that of uniform officers that breed tension, we thank the gods for the serenity,” Mofor George, a native of Chomba said.

The former ruler of the Chomba people, H.R.H Fon Fobuzie Martin Asanji II disappeared after being on the throne for more than 50years.

Hopes are high that the reign of the new Fon will be that of Peace, Love, and Prosperity.

The event also has in attendance some traditional authorities from neighboring villages like Bawock among others.
