Coach Ndtoungou Mpile reveals that Intermediate Lions team captain, Jacques Zoua did not feature against Burkina Faso because of the niggling injury on his thigh.
Though the media had been assured that the captain was recovered from his injury and will indeed feature, if not start the last group game against Burkina Faso, he was surprisingly left on the bench for full 90 minutes.
In a bid to clear the air as to why he left Jacques Zoua on the sidelines, Ndtoungou Mpile said “Jacques Zoua has not played because he is not yet in top form. You notice that he still has a bandage on his thigh. He is being monitored by the doctor. In view of the intensity of the match, I didn’t want to expose him because the pace was very high. I preferred that he follows the care. There is not a Zoua problem in the team.”
Qualified second in group A, Cameroon will then travel to Douala where they will play the quarter-finals.
