Commissioner of the Douala Airport arrested and jailed for drug trafficking

Ahmadou Babanguida, Divisional Commissioner of the International Airport of Douala has been arrested and jailed for drug trafficking.

He is currently being detained at the Yaoundé central prison in the Center Region of Cameroon on Thursday, January 5, 2023.

The senior police official was arrested after he was implicated following an investigation into drug trafficking at Douala International Airport.

According to information gathered by MMI, he was traced after 12 kilograms of cocaine were intercepted in the hands of the two police officers, earlyy December 2022.

“During the hearing initiated by the Directorate of Territorial Security in Douala, the police officers declared that the sponsor of the traffic was none other than the head of security at Douala international airport,” an MMI reporter revealed.

Commissioner Ahmadou Babanguida, however, denied any wrongdoing.
