The Higher Technical Teachers’ Training College, HTTTC Bambili, in the North West Region of Cameroon has been locked in controversy as several students have their names missing from the official graduation list.
Most of these students claim that they have fulfilled all conditions necessary for graduation. They also think that the names included in the list are of students who might have bribed their way into the institution.
Some of the omitted students told us that “Despite all complaints, the School Administration has done nothing to resolve it and have gone ahead to schedule the graduation ceremony for Saturday without our names.”
The affected students have also complained of a faulty platform they believe might equally be responsible for the mix-up.
“Our marks keep appearing and disappearing from the online platform transcript with no one telling us why,” a student tells us.
“It shows the Administration knows what is happening. That is why they selected a few students from rich families and their names to Yaounde for the final graduation, ” she claimed.
HTTTC authorities have nevertheless denied all allegations from the students. The Director of the institution said “The problems that a few students have with their transcripts are being corrected and they will eventually get their certificates… Nobody would want a student who has been given the proper training not to graduate.”
He went further to reveal that most of the complainants have not completed their needed requirements for graduation and “hope that by some magic they can beat the system,” he said. “Some go for long periods without informing their department heads, ” she added.
In all, students who are confident to have fulfilled all requirements have been given assurances to receive their certificates.
