Court case opposing Ayah Foundation, Ernest Obama and Vision 4 suffers another adjournment

The case pitting Ayah Ayah Abine, CEO of the Ayah Foundation and journalist Ernest Obama resumed in a Yaounde court today.

A verdict was expected, but the case suffered another adjournment, MMI has learned.

“A decision was awaited today, but judges of the appeal court have ordered the physical presence of Obama and Amougou Belinga for debates before granting a decision, they were not in court,” Ayah Ayah told MMI.

The case was adjourned to January 27 2023.

It’s not the first time Ernest Obama has ignored the court, causing delay in the proceedings.

“The judges are offended by the fact that he snubbed the court. He and his former boss Amougou Belinga,” said Ayah Ayah Abine.

Obama and his former boss at Vision 4 Amougou Belinga, had accused the Ayah Foundation of conniving with Separatists to traffic arms into conflict-hit Northwest and Southwest regions of Cameroon.

The Ayah Foundation who dragged the duo to court say the claims are unfounded and describe them as “mere witch hunt.”

Ernest Obama is no longer working with Vision 4 “but he still has to answer for the the claims he made,” said the Ayah Foundation’s CEO who added that his charity organisation has done nothing but provided food, shelter and hope for vulnerable and needy families hit by the deepening armed conflict in Anglophone Cameroon.

The case which began at the Mfoundi Court of First Instance in May 2020 has suffered several adjournments.
