The event which was initially scheduled to take place today evening at the Boukatou Lounge in Yaoundé has now been canceled by the Senior Divisional Officer for Mfoundi, Mboutou Benjamin, citing the need for the respect of COVID-19 preventive measures.
The artist had relayed the message on his social media accounts, beckoning on persons to turn out massively for the private event today, only to be met with a communiqué prohibiting the holding of the concert. The reason mentioned by the Administrative authorities was the recent upsurge of the Covid-19 pandemic in Cameroon.
“The concert by Petit Pays at the Boukarou lounge on March 26, 2021, from the date of signing of this decision, is prohibited until further notice, following an upsurge in Covid-19. The Security Commissioner of the Yaoundé 1 District, the Commander of Nlongkak Gendarmerie Brigade, and the Special Commissioner of Yaoundé 1 are each charged with the execution of this decision,” the statement read.
