Retired Justice Ayah Paul Abine and his two sons are under judicial investigation for alleged acts of terror and related offenses.

A complaint has reportedly been filed against them by Aka Martin, CPDM Member of Parliament for Akwaya and a host of others.

Justice Ayah Paul Abine failed to honour the summons served him.

His lawyer said he couldn’t show up for questioning for health reasons.

However, his two sons and his lawyers appeared before the Legion commander of the national gendarmerie for the south west region for judicial inquiries.

They were grilled Friday January 13,2023 following a summons served January 12,2023 which defense lawyers term illegal .

A message circulated by the Ayah family said some persons from Ballin villages in Akwaya ,Manyu division of the South West region, lodged the complaint against them for sponsoring separatist Ambazonia fighters.

“The Suspects are Ayah Paul Abine, Ayah Douglas and Ayah Oliver and others” a statement from the defense lawyers read stating that, “The complainants are Hon Aka Martin, Agwa Linus and others.”

Amongst the criminal charges pressed against them, MMI gathered are;acts of terrorism, Secession ,failure to report ,arsonmurder, hostility against the fatherland amongst others.

According to the defense lawyers, two of accused appeared before the investigators.

“The second and third suspects were present, interogated and gave rational answers to the questions posed in the presence of their Counsel,” the lawyers said adding that, “They all denied having any knowledge or involvement in the said allegations.”

However ,the first accused falied to appear for reasons the lawyers said, “The first suspect (AYAH PAUL ABINE) due to his failing health (currently on wheel chair) could not attend.”

In a communication delivered to the public, the Ayah family said, “Pa Ayah has been in a wheelchair for six months running now following a serious breakdown in health. Because of that health condition, Pa Ayah could not attend, but the other two attended.”

According to the legal team made up of Barristers Nicholas Ogbe Keme, Ndong Christopher Nveh, ENOW Hilary, Mbara Stella, Lyne Tabe and Tanchi amongst others, the summon process was illegal as , “due process was not followed in summoning him(Ayah Paul Abine) as a Lawyer, thus, the BATONIER or his regional representive of the South west was not informed as per the organic Law.”
