CPDM MP Dies on the Eve of November Parliamentary Session

Yaoundé, November 9, 2023 – The Cameroonian political landscape is mourning the untimely death of Honourable Marguerite Abomo Fama, a prominent member of the ruling party, the CPDM (Cameroon Peoples Democratic Movement). The tragic incident occurred on Thursday, just hours before she was set to join her fellow parliamentarians for the commencement of the November session at the National Assembly in Yaoundé.

Honorable Marguerite, before her passing, represented the Lekié East constituency.

As the news of her passing spreads, condolences are pouring in from various political figures, community leaders, and citizens across Cameroon.

The circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear at this time, and investigations are expected to be launched to determine the cause. The timing of her passing on the eve of a parliamentary session adds an additional layer of complexity to the unfolding situation.

Not the first this year

There have been multiple instances this year of female CPDM MPs passing away unexpectedly. On June 22, 2023, Mireille Adaré Gassawily, a Senator representing the East Region of Cameroon from the same political party, sadly passed away.

The senator unfortunately passed away at the Yaounde General Hospital after battling an illness.
