The President of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement, Professor Maurice Kamto has called on the supporters of his party not to do anything that will jeopardize the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament to be hosted in Cameroon.
He has particularly instructed that “No member of the board, no executive of the CRM in tbe diaspora should make derogatory remarks about the AFCON.”
Professor Maurice Kamto has also urged them to welcome foreigners into the country as they come in for the tournament which begins in four days.
These remarks from the CRM President come as the Social Democratic Front (SDF) Party has planned a grand march of protest on the eve of the AFCON Kick-off in Douala. Among other things, the SDF will be demanding for an end to the crisis in the anglophone regions and for the release of all political prisoners.
The plea from Professor Kamto also follows the sentencing of some CRM party militants arrested in 2020 by the state, amongst them, his spokesperson, Olivier Bibou Nissack, and the party’s National Treasurer Alain Forgue.
