PWD Social Football Club of Bamenda has defeated Union Sportive of Douala 3 – 0 to qualify for the finals of the Cup of Cameroon.
Playing at ‘home’ in Bamendzi, Bafoussam, PWD took the lead at the 28th minute of play thanks to Billy Samin.
Just before half time, 18-year-old sensation, Eyegue Francois doubled the lead for PWD Bamenda as they went to the break with a two goals lead.
Upon resumption of the second half, PWD Bamenda continued dominating possession and it paid off again at the 58th minute of play thanks to Tchauoa Leger.
The three – nil victory by PWD Bamenda sets up a clash with Astres of Douala in the finals of the Cup of Cameroon.
Astres Football Club of Douala booked their place in the final thanks to a 3 – 2 victory against Coton Sport of Garoua.
PWD Social Football Club of Bamenda will therefore be looking forward to right the wrongs of 1979 where they lost to Dynamo of Douala.
Bamenda is one of the cities in Cameroon ‘cursed’ with no football stadium worthy of the name.
Though without a stadium, Bamenda has two elite one teams, one elite two, one women’s division one team.
Bamenda has produced and is still producing great names in the football industry in Cameroon.
