Human Rights Watch has urged Cameroonian officials to improve measures to keep the population safe during the African Cup of Nations in January. In addition to games not being programmed in regions with fragile security, it wants additional measures to limit the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

A local of Wum called Mr. Achuo Lucas has died at the hospital after he was stabbed by a Mbororo militia. He was stabbed on December 18, 2021, and died two days later at the hospital. The exact reason for his murder is still unknown.


A two-year-old child is reported to have died in the town of Buea, in the South West Region after he swallowed a hard object. He was initially rushed to a local pharmacist in an attempt to save his life, but all attempts to revive him proved futile.


The President of the Confederation of African Football, Dr. Patrice Motsepe has confirmed that the African Cup of Nations tournament will go ahead as planned. He made this remark after his meeting with Cameroon’s Head of State, President Paul Biya at the Unity Palace in Yaoundé.


While AFCON hosting doubts have almost been put to rest, many have questioned government intentions post the tournament. Some have expressed concerns the facilities constructed worth billions would be left to waste, to the detriment of tax payers.
