Three young men arrested and jailed for sharing a joke about the Boko Haram sect have been released. The trio were arrested seven years ago, tried and sentenced by the Yaounde military court – a move rights groups said was too harsh for the nature of their offense. Amnesty International has welcomed their release, calling it “a relief”.

Alain Forgue and Olivier Bibou Nissack, the National Treasurer and CRM Spokesperson respectively have each received a 7 years jail sentence from the Yaoundé Military Tribunal. The men were arrested last year after the September 22 nationwide protest initiated by CRM President Professor Maurice Kamto.

The CRM party has said it is withdrawing from media debates and participation in media as a whole. The party’s leaders have urged members to desist from granting any interviews or responding to any media organs. This comes shortly after today’s jailing of its militants.

The work of Doctors Without Borders in the South West region has again come under the radar. This was after the government announced it had seized a separatist fighter being treated by the international first aid body. Months ago, it should be recalled, the government prohibited the non-profit organization from working in the North West region, a decision which to date remains controversial.

The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Celestine Ketcha Courtes is in the North Region for a working visit. In her two days visit, she will visit some Government projects being carried out in the region.

The organizing committee of the AFCON, COCAN has issued a disclaimer over decorations at the Douala International Airport. COCAN says its decorations are unique and representative of the AFCON and CAF.

Some Cameroon Indomitable Lions are now in camp in Yaounde ahead of the African Cup of Nations slated for early January 2022. They will be fighting to lift the much-coveted sports trophy for the sixth time in history when they compete at the tournament on home soil.
