Military Justice: Bibou Nissack, Alain Forgue Sentenced To 7 Years In Jail

Alain Forgue, the National Treasurer of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement (CRM), and Olivier Bibou Nissack, Spokesperson of CRM President, Maurice Kamto, have been sentenced to 7 years in prison by the Yaounde Military Tribunal.

They were both handed out their sentences today afternoon in Yaoundé, after spending over a year in detention.

Alain Forgue and Bibou Nissack were arrested during the September 22 nationwide protest initiated by CRM President Professor Maurice Kamto.

They were accused of attempted insurrection and other crimes. Several calls made for the Government to release both men were fruitless.

This sentence also comes just weeks after Professor Maurice Kamto had urged the Cameroonian Government to release incarcerated CRM Militants for them to enjoy end-of-year festivities with their families.
