Close to thirty rights organizations have pressured the Biya regime to release political prisoners. In the petition, they urged the international community and media to not be distracted by the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations while people suffer for expressing their political opinions. Cameroon continues to hold hundreds, if not thousands of political prisoners.


Dr Ebang, Director of the Muyuka Hospital in the South West Region has denied rape allegations brought against him by a subordinate. He is said to have pleaded not guilty during a recent court appearance. The case is still ongoing.


A man was today rescued from the hands of a mob in Buea, South West Region by the forces of law and order. The mob sought to have him beaten, after he was accused of raping a young boy. Yet to be charged, he remains behind bars.


Drivers plying the Bambui-Bambili road in the North West Region have decried the horrible conditions of the stretch during this dry season. Drivers say the excessive dust raised by dust could cause accidents on the road.


Ph.D holders in the diaspora have complained after being completely left out of the ongoing selection process for the third phase of recruitment in State Universities. The diasporan candidates say they have been ignored in the selection despite being eligible.


Residents of the Bilongue neighborhood in Douala have complained of dangers posed by several fallen electricity poles in their neighborhood. Despite the many complaints advanced to the authorities, nothing has been done to move the poles which carry live cables.


A young Cameroonian researcher called Alain Tchana has been selected as one of the winners of the Francophonie Prize for Young Researchers. He is the Director of the Department of Computer Science at the Higher Teachers Training College in Lyon, France.


The hopes of Bamenda having a befitting stadium have again been raised. This was after the FECAFOOT Director of Projects and Development, Ahmad Ngah visited the abandoned Bamenda Municipal Stadium. The newly appointed official took over office on Wednesday, February 2nd, 2022.
