Reports say the University of Buea is in dire need of teaching halls. Courses with large numbers of students hold under difficult conditions, with many complaining that they are forced to sit on bare floor to attend lectures. Others say it is becoming harder to get the voice of their lecturers, when classes are held in open spaces.
Meanwhile another scandal is currently rocking the University of Buea (UB). Persons without Masters Degrees have been admitted into PhD programs, reports say. The Faculty of Laws and Political Science is hardest hit by the academic fraud, especially the Department of Comparative Politics and Political Science headed by Dr. Abangma James Arrey. Dr Abangma doubles as President of the University of Buea Chapter of the National Trade Union of Teachers of Higher Education, SYNES-UB. Most of those admitted for the PhD program in political science without Masters degrees are said to be natives of Manyu Division, where the Head of Department hails. A lady has lost her life in Limbe after she was crushed by a speedy military truck. The incident happened on Tuesday as the truck driver attempted to overtake another vehicle. Officials have not yet reacted.
A 25-year-old man was discovered lifeless in his room today in Mbouda, West Region of Cameroon. The discovery was made by his girlfriend after several fruitless attempts to get to him on phone. Investigations have been opened to determine the cause of the victim’s death.

The corpse of a man aged about 55 has been retrieved from a stream in Nkwen around the Bamenda III Council. Residents woke up to the macabre discovery on Monday. The body was floating in the stream. It has been taken to the regional hospital mortuary pending identification.

Two bandits have been shot dead in Fundong, chief town of Boyo Division in Cameroon’s North-West Region today. Reports say the military visited the area and shot the thieves at the Fundong Market following a tip off from the population. The deceased are said to have broken into 13 shops in separate incidents, emptying their contents, before meeting their waterloo today. One succeeded to run away.
