The Kumba-Mamfe road in the South West Region has been shutdown by Government soldiers for over three days and counting. Passengers are stranded on the road, with numerous vehicles carrying perishable goods and some carrying corpses of loved ones en route for burial. The exact reason for the road block is not yet known.


One man has died in Malende, South West Region after an attack allegedly by the military. Locals say the victim was shot when soldiers opened fire on them. This is alleged to be in retaliation to an attack on the soldiers by Separatist fighters that left one of theirs dead.


Human Rights Watch has called out the Cameroon military for it’s excessive use of force against civilians in a recent protest in the North West Region. Citing the crackdown on protesters in Bamenda sparked by the killing of 8-Year-old Tataw Brandy, the rights group confirmed that seven persons were injured.



Dr Christopher Fomunyoh of the National Democratic Institute has warned the Cameroon government against further radicalisation of youths in the country’s Anglophone regions. Use of the military to solve the armed conflict, he said, has failed and genuine inclusive dialogue remains the way out. This, he added, will also require time and effort to get the affected population see government’s willingness to end their plight.


Three police officers have been arrested and detaines in Douala following the death of a former detainee. Bertin Nzimou, the deceased, is believed to have died due to injuries sustained as he was tortured by the said officers. The officers’ identities however remain undisclosed.


The Yaounde City Council in partnership with the French Embassy is running a two week campaign to improve the quality of air in the town. The two-week long exercise seeks to promote sustainable activities and means of transport to curb pollution.
