Death of Davido’s son strikes conflicting chords within Cameroonian audience

By David Atangana

The death of the son of popular Nigerian singer, Davido has attracted multiple reactions from his Cameroonian fans and the general public.

Many have taken to social media space blaming the artiste and partner for not being vigilant enough, while others say it was not his fault.

Other Cameroonians say the issue is entirely none of their business.

Three-year-old Adeleke Ifeanyi is reported to have drowned in a swimming pool while his parents were away.

His death was confirmed Tuesday November 1, 2022 by the Nigerian Police service.

The tragedy reportedly occured not long after a reconciliation between Davido and his longtime fiance, Chioma.

“This is terrible and a big loss but at the same time it is negligence except something hiding is behind it” ,Mungoh Julius wrote adding that ” … normally it is safe to put a fence round a pool when you have kids of that age at home. My condolence to the family. It’s heart breaking”

Regretting the loss of the kid’s life some Cameroonians say, that is nothing compared to killings in the North West and South west regions of the country which should be given more prominence in the media.

“In as much as it is painful for the little child to die, I do not see Cameroonians applying this same energy and prayers when people are killed in the NW and SW regions everyday- both the young and the old” Ismail Manu said wondering that,”… is it that the life of Davido’s child is more important than all those lives in our regions?”

On the other hand some say there is a spiritual hand behind the child’s death.
