Deceased comedian Samy Lenwr gets final farewell

Family, friends, and fans are gathered this afternoon to bid a final farewell to the late Cameroonian comedian, Fefoa Mfegue Benjamin Leónard, aka Samy Lenwr.

The 34-year-old passed away in a Yaounde hospital after a tragic car accident on July 6 in Kribi.

Preparations for his funeral commenced earlier this month, with mini concerts organised by musicians and fellow comedians to honour his memory.

Samy’s body was removed from Hôpital Jamot in Yaounde yesterday, followed by a Mass at St Vincent de Paul Parish Messassi before a vigil at his family home at Nkol-Ondobo, Yaounde.

Today, multitudes are again gathered in an emotional ceremony to pay him last respects and lay his mortal remains to rest.

Samy Lenwr’s untimely death sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, leaving a void that will be deeply felt by those who cherished his work.

The late comedian, whose talent brought laughter to countless faces, will be remembered for his wit, charm, and ability to connect with audiences from all walks of life.

He was versatile in talent and skill and was simultaneously a comedian, professional photography, video director and singer-performer.

The comedian died three months to his birth anniversary on October 13.

As the sun dips below the horizon, Samy Lenwr will be laid to rest at 5pm today.
