At the ongoing National Dialogue talks in Yaounde, the decentralization commission is insisting that reinforcing the capacity of local councils, could address the Anglophone problem.
Following the tense atmosphere yesterday that led to the suspension of discussions, the commission chairman, Philip Ngole Ngwese imposed the following on today’s agenda;
1)Strengthening the Autonomy of local council
2)Ensuring a significant devolution of Power.
3)The allocation of adequate financial resources.
4)Elimination of principle of complementality vis a vis the state.
5)Governance at local council.
Yesterday the agenda was based on general points of view on decentralization. To the greatest surprise, about 70% of the speakers rejected decentralization and said federalism is the best option to come out of this crisis. This almost break out into a fight between one of the Ex fighters and a man”.
