The minister delegate at the presidency of the Republic in charge of Defence , Joseph Beti Assomo is in the west region for a two day working visit.
Minister Assomo arrived Bafousam yesterday ahead of today’s meeting which aims at taking stock of the security situation of the region.
Today, Minister Assomo will meet with security top brass of the region during a meeting in Mbouda, in the Bamboutos division.
His visit comes at a time separatist fighters have repeatedly launched attacks in border localities of the West region.
The last of such attacks reportedly carried out by dreaded Amba General No Pity in a locality near Mbouda left at least three soldiers dead. weapons belonging to the soldiers were equally carted away during the ambush.
The localities of Mbouda and Galim share common borders with the North West where fighting between separatists and state security forces have been ongoing for nearly five years now.
