Some households in Deido, Douala in the Littoral Region have been in blackedout.

Their electricity meters were reportedly installed by fraudulent ENEO workers.

According to reports, their meters were installed barely six months ago.

The fraudulent agents reportedly told them that their process of acquisition of meters was illegal.

However all attempts by persons of the affected households to get more details proved futile as they were asked to table their complaints at Kumassi, whereas their disconnection came from Deido.

An inhabitant of the locality recounted, ” On my way back from the market, I met some ENEO agents in our compound. When I tried finding out the problem, they told me the don’t have any obligation to explain things to me. When we also tried finding out how Deido depends on Kumassi, they said all they have to do is to suspend our light.”

The residents of the said households however claim they have been paying monthly due which was expected to cover the 33,000 francs cost for the meter.

” When they were installing these meters, it was agreed upon that an amount would be payed each time we pay our electricity bills through our mobile money accounts, to cover up the 33,000 francs for the meter, something which we have been doing. So We are surprised this morning with this visit of some alleged ENEO workers” indicated a victim.

Households, alongside business centers like tailoring workshop who depend solely on electricity have been greatly affected.
