Democratic Liberation (D.L) Party of Shewa Jestel Congratulates Issa Tchiroma Bakary

The Democratic Liberation (D.L.) Party has congratulated Issa Tchiroma Bakary, following his declaration of victory in the presidential election held on Sunday in Cameroon.

In a letter on Wednesday, Shewa David Samuel Jestel, the party’s National President, stated that based on the results obtained so far, Issa Tchiroma Bakary, the presidential candidate of the Cameroon National Salvation Front, is leading by a wide margin everywhere.

“I would like to congratulate you for your decision and consent to our coalition’s call to vote for His Excellency President ISSA TCHIROMA,” Shewa Jestel wrote, describing the victory as “largely crushing.”

“My distinguished congratulations to you, Mr. President, His Excellency ISSA TCHIROMA,” Shewa Jestel said. “History has been recorded and dated in 2025 already.”

He acknowledged that the official proclamation of results from the Constitutional Council, the body charged with this power, is still pending.

However, he issued a warning to “ELECAM to be VERY, VERY CAREFUL,” stating that his party is aware of “all the falsifications” it is allegedly attempting in the Northwest and Southwest regions.

Shewa Jestel is alleging that significant irregularities took place in these Anglophone regions.

“I am from NOSO, and I know the realities on the ground. Do not even try, just as you fraudulently disqualified my candidacy for the presidential elections of October 12, 2025, under the pretext of dual candidacy,” he stated.

Despite these alleged irregularities, Shewa claimed that Issa Tchiroma won in the majority of voting stations in NOSO.

“We all know that it is practically impossible for President Paul Biya to win in a region where he declared a war that has been ongoing for nine years and where the population is suffering,” he said.

He provided a specific example: “I already have palpable evidence which sufficiently demonstrates that in the NDU Subdivision, a stronghold of the opposition and separatist fighters, H.E. Paul Biya was falsely awarded 15,000 votes. Meanwhile, all the polling stations in NDU were merged into just three: NDU COUNCIL, MBIYE, and NTOмвон.”

He questioned how, given the “ghost towns” and pervasive insecurity, 15,000 people could have possibly traveled on foot to vote for President Biya.

“We also have places like Batibo, Tubah, MISAJE, Kumbo, and AKO where fake results seem to have been produced. We love peace. We are Cameroonians who all have equal opportunities. Let us give President Issa TCHIROMA his rights as a citizen. We do not want to see what happened to my father, H.E. Ni John Fru Ndi, in 1992 repeated itself. Let this exceptional sovereign WILL be respected,” he concluded.

He urged Cameroonians to respect the law and remain calm while awaiting the official verdict.

Shewa Dumped Tomaino

Shewa joined Tchiroma Bakary’s campaign at the last minute. After his own candidacy was rejected, he initially backed Tomaino Ndam Njoya. However, one day before the election on October 12, he led a coalition of seven parties that withdrew support from Tomaino Ndam Njoya of the UDC to endorse Issa Tchiroma Bakary.
