Residents of Dirty South Molyko in Buea are up in arms over what they call the “ineffective” waste management services in their area. Students living in nearby hostels are particularly impacted by the overflowing bins and the health hazards they pose.

One resident, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed their deep frustration: “This is just unacceptable! The waste management company simply isn’t doing its job. The bins are overflowing, and the stench is unbearable. It’s a real eyesore, but more importantly, it’s a major health risk.”

The resident continued, highlighting the impact on students: “We have a lot of students living in hostels here, and they’re the ones who are most exposed to this mess. They have to deal with the smell and the potential for diseases every single day. It’s just not fair.”

Another resident, John Abah, echoed these concerns. “The situation is getting worse by the day. The waste is piling up, and it’s attracting flies and other vermin. It’s a breeding ground for illness,” said Abah. “We’re calling on the waste management company to take immediate action. They need to collect the waste more frequently and implement proper disposal practices.”

The current waste management system seems inadequate for Dirty South Molyko’s needs. Residents are urging the company to take a more proactive approach to waste collection and disposal.

“We need a solution, and we need it now,” pleaded Abah. “Our health and well-being are at stake, especially for the students living here. The company needs to step up and do its job.”

This mounting frustration highlights the urgent need for improved waste management services in Dirty South Molyko. Residents hope that their voices will be heard and that the situation will be addressed promptly.
