Chief Barrister Ndong Christopher Nveh has made serious accusations of attempted murder against Mr. Ngidah Lawrence, the Divisional Officer (DO) of Mbengwi, Momo Division. In a poignant message directed towards Minister Atanga Nji, Nveh details unsettling incidents of domestic violence and menacing threats that have instilled fear within a community, endangering the life of a woman.

“I have received distress calls from neighbours of the residence of Mr. Ngidah Lawrence,” writes Nveh, “that he tortured his wife, Ndong Solange épse Ngidah, my daughter too and almost threw her off the storey building but for the cry of his children, wife and neighbours, this DO for Mbengwi will have committed murder this day.”

The letter, written on April 1st, 2024, describes a disturbing incident of domestic violence, where Nveh claims that Ngidah Lawrence’s actions endangered his daughter, Solange.

“It is the neighbours who have alerted me pleading that if I the father do not come, Lawrence Ngidah can kill her,” Nveh continues, “He often threatens his wife with his gun.”

The situation, according to Nveh, is extremely serious, with the alleged assailant displaying a complete lack of restraint in his pursuit of harm.

“Am drawing the attention of the national and international community particularly Minister Atanga Nji,” Nveh implores, “that his element is on the verge of committing murder and that he should be called to order.”

The urgency for intervention is emphasised by the concern of a potential tragic recurrence, as Nveh mentions a recent incident in Kribi where a similar act of violence led to the tragic loss of a young life.

“Of late a DO did a similar act in Kribi by shooting to death a young lady and the matter was widely publicized,” Nveh writes, drawing parallels that highlight the urgency of the situation.

However, in the midst of the allegations of violence, a complex network of personal relationships and betrayals comes to light. There are indications that the alleged attack could be connected to a complicated marital conflict, as Ngidah Lawrence is reportedly attempting to end his marriage and pursue a relationship with another woman. “It would be blamed on the adulterous life of Mr. Ngidah Lawrence, and his new wife,” Nveh asserts, painting a picture of betrayal and deceit.

The reported actions of Ngidah Lawrence, attempting to pressure his wife into accepting a divorce and entering into a polygamous marriage, further reinforce the narrative of control and manipulation that Nveh presents.

“Mr. Ngidah Lawrence has tried to forcefully obtain the consent of my daughter to divorce her marriage and take up another marriage under the regime of polygamy which my daughter has refused,” Nveh reveals, highlighting the resistance faced by his daughter in the face of her husband’s alleged coercion.

As Nveh concludes his letter, he emphasises the importance of accountability and warns Ngidah Lawrence that he will face the consequences for his actions, regardless of any perceived protection.

“I reserve my rights to legal action for the time being, but let the DO think he will commit any crime with impunity,” Nveh declares, signaling his unwavering determination to seek justice for his daughter and hold her alleged assailant accountable.

Amidst these troubling accusations, the focus shifts to Minister Atanga Nji and the authorities responsible for ensuring justice and safeguarding the vulnerable. The future of Ndong Solange épse Ngidah is uncertain, as her safety relies on prompt and resolute measures in response to domestic terror.

Amidst the anticipation of the entire nation, the demand for justice becomes increasingly urgent, mirroring a father’s heartfelt plea for his daughter’s life.
