DO orders legal action against soldiers who mercilessly tortured man in Ndu

The Divisional Officer, DO of Ndu in the Donga Mantung division of the North West region, Adamu Shuaibu Ibrahim, has urged heads of various security units in the area to immediately launch disciplinary and legal measures against some soldiers pictured in a video mercilessly torturing a man on grounds that his brother is an amba fighter.

The 9- minute long video which has been making the rounds on social media has since attracted global condemnation.

In the video, soldiers are pictured beating a man to near death with machetes infront of a military installation in Ndu.

They are believed to have filmed the action and later shared the video on social media.

In a letter addressed to security chiefs in the area following the gruesome act, the Divisional Officer of Ndu wrote “following horrendous images of inhumane torture of a certain Jean Fai Bongong of Ndu by elements of your respective forces on 11th February 2021 after a successful Youth Day celebration in Ndu…horrible acts with which the elements had the audacity to film and publish on social media…you are hereby requested to immediately launch disciplinary and legal measures against the perpetrators”.

It is not clear whether Fai, the victim, survived the torture.
