Donga Mantung: Legion Commander warns Gendarmes to guard against extorting population

The commander of the North West Gendarmerie Legion, Colonel Boum Bissoue Raymond has warned gendarmes in Donga Mantung division, North West region to guard against extorting the population.

He made the call while on a two-day visit to some parts of the Donga Mantung division.

During the visit, Colonel Boum Bissoue Raymond told the people of Donga Mantung division that their security is the major concern of the gendarmes in the area while calling on the population to support the forces and vigilante groups in their effort to restore peace.

“We are fighting here for the population. They are the centre of gravity and we have to do the best that the population should always be with us”, Colonel Boum Bissoue said.

Recently, there have been reports of the forces of law and order extorting the population especially business persons, a situation that the legion commander has seriously warned against.

The visit took the legion commander and his team to Ndu, Sop, Ntubaw, Nkambe, Misaje, Ngarum amongst others.

Since the start of the anglophone crisis, the Donga Mantung division has witnessed relative peace with economic and socio-economic activities going on in most parts of the division unperturbed.
