The indigenous people of Sop village and the Mbororo community in Donga Mantung have committed to working together for peace and harmony, vowing to protect their area from external threats.

This resolution emerged from a crisis meeting held in Nkambe on August 14, chaired by the Senior Divisional Officer (SDO) of Donga Mantung, Mbasilikin George Magloir Emmanuel.

The meeting followed weeks of violent unrest in Sop, which has been attributed to armed Mbororo militias.

In two recent attacks, armed Mbororo groups reportedly killed at least three people, set homes ablaze, looted shops, and left several locals injured.

In his opening statement at the meeting, the SDO condemned the violence that has brought misery and hardship to numerous families. He stressed the need for unity among the communities, highlighting that the enemy’s efforts to destabilize the region would only succeed if the people remained divided.

“The enemy will never succeed if we are able to bury our differences and dream a common dream,” the SDO declared.

Sop is a remote village located in Ndu Subdivision, within Donga Mantung Division of the North West region.
