“Don’t rely on government to fight COVID-19” Agbor Balla

Human rights lawyer and head of the Center for human rights and Democracy in Africa, CHRDA, Nkongho Felix Agbor has questioned the high number of coronavirus cases in the country.

With Cameroon being the country with the most cases in all of West and Central Africa, he asks “what really happened? Is it due to Administrative recklessness? Failure to close the borders on time? Refusal to Lockdown? Failure to test the high and mighty who came from abroad?”

To be able to combat the virus at this point, the CHRDA boss says “we should collectively fight against the spread of this pandemic. Each and every citizen can play a role. Don’t rely only on the Government.”

“We should always remember to Wash our hands with soap, use hand sanitizers, wear a mask, maintain social distancing and stay at home” he recommends.

Many have accused the government of not taking the COVID-19 pandemic serious, and have called for a total lockdown on some towns to curb the spread of the virus.

Cameroon’s cases surpassed 500 a few hours ago.
