Douala: bikers snob Wouri SDO’s restrictions

Three days after a prefectural order from the Senior Division Officer of Wouri Division in the Littoral Region of Cameroon reminding both commercial and private motorcycle riders not to get into Bonapriso and Bonanjo quarters, the decision has not been respected.

Riders continue to carry out their activity as usual. One of the riders, speaking to Mimi Mefo Info, Friday, December 18, 2020, says ” The decision is not rational. I don’t understand any inconvenience caused by motorcycles in these quarters that they should be banned. Let him equally ban cars in New Bell so we can work there”.

Another points accusing fingers on the administration for failing to rehabilitate roads in the city.

SDO Benjamin Mboutou in the decision signed December 16, 2020, states that administrative sanction including impounding motorcycles caught in these quarters will be implemented. The administrator insists that riders who default the order will face the law.

In 2012, Bernard Okalia Bilai, then SDO of Wouri Division banned the circulation of motorcycles in Bonapriso,Bonanjo and Bali quarters. The decision police officers enforced for a few weeks and abandoned because of the need for transportation in these quarters.
