Douala city mayor election: Leading candidate backs out of race

Lengue Malapa Jean-Jacques has withdrawn his candidature for the competitive post of Douala City Mayor.

He is the main candidate who championed a holdup against the candidate invested by their CPDM party.

Reports say the CPDM central committee gave him two options earlier today. “To leave the party or withdraw his candidature for the post of Douala City Mayor”.

CPDM Secretary-General Jean Kwete and CPDM SG in charge of communication, Minister Jacque Fame Ndongo all descended to Douala today, after a failed compromise among candidates Tuesday, March 3th 2020.
