By Amina Hilda

The Cameroon Cycling tour in Douala, the economic capital of Cameroon has been canceled due to the poor state of the roads.

According to the programme presented by the Cameroon Cycling Federation, the tour was scheduled to take place today June 8, 2023.

The competition was to start from campus A of the University Institute of the Gulf of Guinea at PK 8 to Carrefour Entrée Laïque then Carrefour Tradex PK10.

The tour which was to take place between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., at the end of the day was annulled.

“The runners felt that there were a lot of potholes on the road surface. And these potholes were covered by puddles of water. With these conditions, they thought their safety was at risk,”  said Honoré Yossi the president of the Cameroonian Cycling Federation while talking to CRTV.

This 19th edition of the International Cycling Tour of Cameroon is expected to end next weekend.
