Hazards of weed 'banga' smoking

A landlord has been left stranded in Douala, Littoral region of Cameroon after his weed (locally referred to as ‘Banga’) smoker tenant set the house ablaze.
According to local reports, the landlord had earlier warned the tenant to evacuate the house considering the amount of smoke that usually emanated from the house as a result of his smoking of marijuana.
“I have warned him several times to leave my house. Every day we notice huge smoke coming out of the house just because he is smoking Banga,” decried the landlord.
The intervention of persons in the neighborhood was able to calm the raging fire. Material loss was however incurred as a result of the incident.

Weed, also known as marijuana or cannabis, is a psychoactive substance derived from the cannabis plant. For ages, the cannabis plant, which is native to Central or South Asia, has been utilised as a recreational and entheogenic drug, as well as in numerous traditional remedies.
It is illegal in many countries, including Cameroon, despite increasing calls for its legalisation.
