Douala: Man arrested for murder of scrap metal dealer

A man has been arrested in Yaoundé, Center Region, for the murder of a scrap metal dealer some weeks back.

On September 5, 2022, a 40-year-old scrap metal dealer was discovered lifeless by a dustbin in a neighborhood in Douala. He was assassinated and slightly burnt.

The deceased had amassed the sum of over a million francs from his business before the tragic incident occurred.

According to Commissioner Essono Edou, Chief of crime and investigative unit of the judiciary police in Douala, investigations, carried out by the Regional Delegate of National Security led to the arrest of the assailant, said to be an employee of the deceased.

“The crime was committed with the aim of getting the sum of 1.5 million FCFA that the victim had received earlier in the day, after selling scrap metal,” said Commissioner Essono Edou.

“The suspect, who was his employee, after witnessing the collection of this money, agreed with two accomplices to assault his boss in the evening,” the commissioner added.

Investigations by the forces of security, are however ongoing to identify the accomplices and equally get hold of them.
