Douala: Man files for divorce after being brutalized by wife

Reports say a couple in Douala are on the verge of divorce after the man dragged his wife to court for beating him up.

According to Equinoxe, all efforts to have the couple come to an agreement failed, leading to the lawsuit.

Appearing before a judge at the Bonanjo court, the man is said to have noted that he was often beaten up by his wife, as his four kids watched.

The lady on her part is said to have accused her husband of abandoning his household duties.

The costs of house rents, feeding for the kids and other necessities she stated, have been her duty alone owing to his absence.

While awaiting the court verdict, reports say the couple has been urged to try to settle their differences amicably.

The issue comes up at a time many other instances of violence in marital homes are being reported.

Strangely, however, unlike in most reported cases, the man appears to be the victim this time around.
