A Cameroonian man who risked his life to rescue a Chinese businessman at the Douche market, Douala in the Littoral Region has been compensated.
The appreciation came from members of the Chinese community within the city.
Some few days back, a Chinese businessman was attacked in broad daylight at the Douche Market, in Douala.
The Cameroonian man who happened to be a guard on duty that night at the market was shot while trying to rescue the Chinese man from the armed robbers. He received a bullet on the shoulder, MMI has learnt.
“It was on Thursday, after service, suddenly my boss came out and he was heading to his car. Few seconds later I saw a man who rushed towards him and started attacking him. In an attempt to rescue him, I got shot on my right shoulder,” the security guard narrated to the press.
The Chinese company began by taking care of the victim’s hospital bill.
They equally offered him some, as compensation and appreciation for his ‘act of heroism’.
“The watch night was wounded, so we settled his hospital bill and we have also given him a little compensation to appreciate him,” said one of the representatives of the Chinese community in Douala.
There has been rising insecurity in Douala with thieves operating in broad daylight.
