Douala: Mbapelepe COVID- 19 treatment centre to go operational soon

“The Mbapelepe COVID 19 treatment centre in Douala will be open for use soon”, the Secretary of state at the ministry of public health said in a statement Thursday July 16.

Alim Hayatou however failed to give reasons with regards to delay in the putting into use of the Centre despite increasing number of persons tested positive of coronavirus in the Littoral region.

At the Yassa gynaeco obstetric and pediatric hospital, COVID 19 treatment centre is already playing host to more than 30 coronavirus patients.

The centre has 178 beds with 30 respirators.

Alim Hayatou has inaugurated Laquantinie COVID-19 isolation treatment centre with a call for professionalism in the handling of patients suffering from coronavirus.

The centre has 21 beds and over 10 respirators.

Concerns have been raised over the preference of some patients who resort to different treatment measures after being tested positive for the virus.
