Douala: One dead in construction site accident

One person has been confirmed dead at a construction site at Akwa in the town of Douala.

The scaffolding of a five-floor storey building still under construction gave way while most of the construction workers were on duty.

The accident occured as the construction workers were busily transporting construction material over to the fifth floor through the scaffolding.

Following the accident, at least twenty persons wounded were transported to the emergency unit of the Laquintini Hospital, which is just a stone throw away from the construction site.

One of the injured did not survive the accident, and 7 others are reportedly battling between life and death.

Also, Cameroon-info reports that the site was previously closed down authorities on July 12, 2021 for it’s non compliance with adequate construction standards. It was reopened just today, but has now been closed once more following the latest incident.
