Douala: Student Commits suicide for repeating class

It is more of sad scenes and wailings from the home of an adolescent girl in Douala who has reportedly taken away her own life for having failed to be promoted to the next class.

The Student of Government Bilingual High School Mabanda reportedly burst to tears upon receiving her report card and discovering that she was going to repeat Form 2.

“My mother will kill me” were the words the young girl repeated as she cried over her report card. Her classmates also reveal that the shock from her results physically took a toll on the girl as she grew depressed and almost fainted.

At home too, it is alleged that her mother had reportedly confronted her over the failed results, resulting to the girl making up her mind to end it all.

She is said to have bought and drank rat poison from a store around their home. Soon after drinking the mixture she started convulsing and twisting in pain.

The girl was rushed to the Banassama district hospital, but it was too late as she gave up the ghost upon arrival at the medical facility.
